Tillie Creek Campground is located in the Sequoia National Forest off Highway 155 on the northwest shore of Lake Isabella. The campground is close to the town of Wofford Heights and Live Oak Campground. North Fork Marina is nearby. Visitors to the campground enjoy swimming, fishing, boating, windsurfing, and waterskiing in Lake Isabella. Tillie Creek Campground is equipped with fish cleaning stations and a rather spartan children's playground.

Tillie Creek Campground has 159 campsites. The campground can be very hot in the summer. All of the campsites can accommodate trailers, RVs, and tents. Some campsites have views of the lake. Some campsites are in shade while others are more open.

Tillie Creek Campground has 4 groups sites. Group sites have porta potties. Flush toilets and showers are not at the group campground but campers can go to the main campground to use the facilities. Reservations can be made from 1 day up to 12 months before arrival date.

  • Group Site #1 is a wheelchair accessible site for up to 60 people and 30 vehicles.
  • Group Site #2 accommodates up to 150 people and 50 vehicles.
  • Group Site #3 accommodates up to 80 people and 30 vehicles.
  • Group Site #4 accommodates up to 60 people and 30 vehicles.

Attractions and Activities

The waters of Lake Isabella attract many visitors every year . Most enjoy windsurfing, boating, fishing, and camping. Those who camp at Tillie Creek Campground are not far from the North Fork Marina.

  • Take a tour of the Kern River Fish Hatchery.
  • Head out on Lake Isabella for windsurfing, waterskiing and wakeboarding.
  • Rent a boat from one of the lake's two marinas, or launch your own.
  • Fish Lake Isabella for rainbow and brown trout, bass, crappie, kokanee salmon, and catfish.
  • Stop by the Kern Valley Museum.
  • Sign up for white-water rafting on the Kern River.
  • Enjoy a round of golf at the Kern Valley Golf Course.
  • Explore Silver City Ghost Town.

Key Tillie Creek Campground Regulations

  1. Swimming in the Kern River is dangerous due to strong currents and other hazards.
  2. Glass containers are prohibited around Lake Isabella and along the Kern River.
  3. Campfire permits are required for campfires, barbecues, and camp stoves.
  4. ATVs or OHVs are not permitted anywhere around Lake Isabella with the exception of the Motocross track located nearby.
  5. Dogs must be on leash and attended at all times.

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. If using a reservation website, check to be sure your vehicles will fit in the parking space for your campsite.
