Reds Meadow Campground

Reds Meadow Campground is located off Minaret Summit Road near Red's Meadow Resort, a short distance southeast of Devils Postpile National Monument. The campground is popular with hikers along the Pacific Crest Trail and the John Muir Trail who have stopped in at Red's Meadow Resort to pick up supplies. The resort has a small store and a restaurant. They also operate a pack station which offers trail rides to Rainbow Falls and other destinations.

Reds Meadow Campground has 52 campsites which can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents. The campground is first come, first served. While some campsites are rather close together and lacking in privacy, others are tucked in among the trees. There is a 14-night limit for stays at Reds Meadow Campground.

A narrow access road leads to Reds Meadow Campground. While camping here drivers may bypass the Reds Meadow Shuttle Bus, but are still required to pay a $10 entrance fee. The shuttle only operates in summer.

Attractions and Activities

Those camped at Reds Meadow Campground are close to the Devils Postpile and Reds Meadow with a variety of attractions for outdoor enthusiasts. Use the free shuttle to get from place to place anywhere in the Reds Meadow valley.

  • Explore the geologic wonders of Devils Postpile National Monument.
  • At Red's Meadow Resort join a trail ride to Rainbow Falls, eat at the Mule House Cafe, or just take advantage of their showers.

Key Reds Meadow Campground Regulations

  1. Fires are only allowed in fire rings.
  2. Quiet Hours are from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
  3. Dogs must be on leash and attended at all times. No more than 2 pets are permitted per campsite.
  4. To avoid problems with bears, keep food in bear-proof lockers if provided, otherwise in your vehicle.
